There are several reasons why people practice Yoga. There are a lot of purposes and usefulness attached to these exercises. It is safe to say that one of the major targets of Yoga is cleanliness.

The saying cleanliness is godliness is still valid. Hardly will you find a Yogis who is not particular about his or her cleanliness and neatness.

The types of neatness reflect both on the inside and the outside. Referring to the body, soul, and spirit. Yogis have cultivated several ways on how to cultivate Yoga cleanliness.

We can break down these methods into eight different limbs. Amidst these eight is the Niyama. The Niyama is divided into various types. One very outstanding one is Saucha.

The Saucha can be translated into clean living. It deals with all things cleanliness. The Saucha instructs that everything you do and use should be neat. Your yoga mat, clothing, environment, workspace, your office and everywhere you occupy.

This has a way of influencing your mindset. There should be a consideration for the type of diet you take in. Your cosmetics should be one that cleanses your body.

Your environment should also be as organized as possible. There are other forms of practicing cleanliness. They are Trakata, Nauli, Basti, Neti, Kapalbhati, Dauti.

Generally, practicing cleanliness is a habit that has taken form in individuals right from the cradle. At least for most people, this is true.

It is, thus, safe to say that is easier to be clean with the physical body. Meanwhile, maintaining purity on the inside may not be as easy as one may think.

This is why Yogis take great care to focus on this aspect of the exercise. The methods mentioned above have different purposes and patterns.

Achieving Cleanliness Through Yoga

1. Basti:

Yoga is known to be a spiritual exercise. It also involves a lot of physical practices which are quite needful. This particular method involves the use of water and air to both purify and detoxify the body.

It is well known that water is great for the body. Lots of it. This practice helps people to consciously drink water to achieve a purpose.

To clean the colon and the intestines. There are two basic types of Basti: the Jala Basti and the Vata basti. These make use of water and air respectively to purify the body. While the body is being cleaned out, there is a cooling effect on the body.

2. Trakata:

This practice is quite restrained to the upper part of the body: the head and the eyes. The eye is one of the most underrated parts of the body. Adequate care is scarcely given to it.

This is more rampant amidst those that make use of the computer or sit with it all day long. In Yoga, you can do this in a dark room with a lighted candle.

4. Nauli:

This is a type of exercise that is suitable for the digestive system. It is a form of massage to the belly. You can practice this by bending over the knee and then squeezing the tummy.

Thereby contrasting the stomach muscles. This gives strength to the muscles and makes it firmer. This method aids digestion by emptying the stomach and getting rid of some excesses in the body.

5. Dhuati:

This is a practice that helps to cleanse out the digestive tracts. The basic process is to drink some cups of warm salted water on an empty stomach. Allow it to stay for a while and then removing it from your system by vomiting it out.

The process of vomiting might have to be intimidated by you. The result of this practice is to get rid of toxins and impurities in the system.

While some people may frown at the idea of vomiting, this in itself is not bad. It is simply a tool the body uses to expel unwanted substances in the body before it goes to the bloodstream.

6. Kapalbhati:

This is an exercise that involves breathing. One of the benefits of breathing is to clear out the sinuses and stimulate the brain. This process involves exhaling air out of the nose as if something is a stick in the nose.

Air goes in slowly and then breathed out forcefully. This procedure goes on for at least one minute. The resultant effect is that the airway is clear and the brain is well stimulated.

Benefits Of Cleanliness Through Yoga

Yogists generally accept the saying ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’. It reflects in all that they teach. This is quite good as they’re a lot of well attached to having a clean habit and being neatness. There are fewer chances of sickness. You have a good body shape.

General body fitness, a good appearance and even a sense of joy when there is little disturbing the mind. One importance of cleanliness in yoga is the high concentration rate you get. Because the mind is freed of the cluster, you can focus and get things done very fast.

Finally, because yoga focuses on the unseemingly unimportant parts of the body. Those parts are well taken care of. Parts like the eye, the nose, the intestines, and the abdomen.
